Welcome Dr Thandeka Khoza, our Southern Africa Region’s New Chief Medical Officer.

North Star is excited to announce that our Southern Africa Region has been strengthened by the addition of a new, young and highly-motivated Chief Medical Officer: Dr. Thandeka Khoza. Working from our Durban Office, Dr Khoza is tasked with controlling and improving the quality of health services delivered in our Blue Box clinics across Botswana, Mozambique, South-Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

“Doctor Khoza shows such passion for the underserved populations who don’t have access to direct healthcare.” says Paul Matthew, North Star’s Southern Africa Regional Director.

Graduated from the University Of Kwazulu Natal Nelson Mandela Medical School, Dr Khoza is currently furthering her studies with Yale’s Advanced Health Management Programme, and will soon be starting a Master in Public Health at Harvard. She is hoping to leverage her solid academic background to help grow the organisation, as well as learning within our complex and eclectic medical environment.

Passionate about her job, Dr Khoza is used to working with hard-to-reach populations, having worked in remote areas of South Africa. Even though work may often be tedious, she is always happy when she contributes to the well-being of her patients, making the gruelling hours worthwhile.

Already having visited some of our Blue Box clinics, Dr Khoza’s interactions with sex workers confirmed her beliefs in the organisation. “The sex workers I have encountered during medical reviews have also shown a huge appreciation for the services we provide and our non-discriminatory approach and friendliness,” shared the doctor, “Many have expressed that North Star provides the best healthcare service they have received.”

The wider team are thrilled to have her on board, and we look forward to providing a more efficient and qualitative health-care services to hard-to-reach populations.
