Latest North Star Alliance Roadside Wellness Centres open in South Africa and Zimbabwe

North Star Alliance is proud to announce two new additions to our growing network of Roadside Wellness Centres: Ficksburg, South Africa, and Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. These new centres will provide essential health and safety services to two busy border communities as part of a larger initiative to scale up cross border HIV services, developed in collaboration with the Southern African Development Community (SADC) through support from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.

“The project activities are not intended to replace or compete with country-specific national strategies, but they aim to improve the coherence and effectiveness of the regional response to HIV by reducing the number of infections. Through a focused approach to health service delivery, we hope to contribute to mitigating the impact of AIDS on mobile populations and affected communities in the region,” says Paul Matthew, North Star Alliance Director Africa.

As part of this programme, 29 mobile clinics will be established providing services to communities in Angola, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

While we will keep you posted with new photos as they come in, you can explore the communities and the surrounding areas by checking out the maps below.
