Where we work
Southern Africa
Southern Africa is where we launched our first Roadside Wellness Centre (RWC), and we therefore have more experience in this region than elsewhere. Our footprint and reputation are steadily growing and we currently have a total of six RWCs based across the countries of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Malawi, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Our North Star Alliance brand is now known throughout the region and we are highly regarded within the international community for our work on health and safety issues for mobile populations. As result, we are currently looking to expand our services in DRC, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe in 2011.
Our southern Africa regional office is based in Durban, South Africa.
Eastern Africa
Our work in eastern Africa is relatively new compared with the Southern Africa regions. However, the number of Roadside Wellness Centres (RWCs) in this area is growing fast. In 2009, we launched a total of six RWCs in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. All of the RWCs are in the process of raising awareness about their location, delivering services and building their reputation amongst the target populations.
In 2011 we plan to expand our services in Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Our eastern Africa regional office is based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Western Africa
We launched our initiatives in western Africa in 2010 and, from 2011, are planning to launch Roadside Wellness Centres (RWCs) in Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria, and Togo.
Our West African regional office is based in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
